Public Records

Copies of marriage can be obtained from the Probate Court. Divorce records can be requested from the County Clerk of Court. Birth and death records are also available from the Division of Vital Records.

You can submit an open records request for other county records. An open records request is simply an official request to view particular public government or agency documents. There is a portal through the county website to search most records online. If you cannot locate a record, you can request records from the department directly. Requests for County Council Records can be directed to the Clerk of Council.

Deeds, which are legal documents regarding the ownership of property or legal rights, can be obtained from the Register of Deeds. Deeds can also be searched through the Register of Deeds’ website.
